Did you know it is possible to delete your Gmail account but still have access to all the secondary logins you made using your Gmail credentials? Well, yes! Now you can delete Gmail account and still have access to YouTube, Google, etc.
Maybe you prefer a different service or are embarrassed by your current email address, well have no worries you can now delete your account permanently altogether.
How to delete Gmail from a web browser
Follow these steps to delete Gmail account:
Step 1: Firstly, go to google account settings.
Step 2: Click on Data & Personalization
Step 3: On the page that appears, scroll down and you can see the option called Download, delete, or make a plan for your data.
Step 4: Press delete a service or your account. (You also have the option of choosing Delete Google Account and Data to remove your entire Google account. (including your search history, Google Docs, AdWords and AdSense as well as other Google services).
Step 5: On the next page, click on Delete a service.
Step 6: The sign in to your account option will appear again
Step 7: On the next page choose the service you wish to delete, as you want to delete your Gmail account, click on the trash bin icon next to Gmail.
Tip: You can download by clicking Download Datalink to be able to download a full copy of your Gmail messages via Google takeout.
Step 8: Enter another email address on the how you’ll sign in to google dialogue box, you cannot enter the one you want to delete. (You have already entered a secondary Gmail address while creating this account, also ensure it is an email address you already have access to.)
Step 9: Next, click on send verification mail.
Step 10: Open the email using your alternate email address
Step 11: Follow the link to delete in the message
Step 12: If prompted, log into the Gmail account you wish to delete.
Step 13: Select Yes I want to delete (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Step 14: Click delete Gmail, and done! Your account has been deleted.
Steps to delete Gmail account using android application
You can also easily delete Gmail account using your android application, here’s how:
Step 1: Click on your profile picture or icon displaying your initials on the top right corner.
Step 2: Next, click on your manage your Google account
Step 3: Click on Data and Personalization.
Step 4: Under download, delete or make a plan for your data click on Delete a service or your account, they may require you to sign in.
Step 5: Click on the delete icon and follow the steps on the screen.
Note: When you wish to delete your Gmail account using your android device, it will show you all the list of accounts you are logged into, only select and proceed with the only you wish you actually delete.
Steps to delete Gmail account using iOS application
You can also easily delete Gmail account using the iOS application, follow these steps:
Step 1: Open the Gmail app on your iOs device.
Step 2: Click on your profile thumbnail on the top left corner of the screen. ( This will be your profile picture or the initials of your name)
Step 3: Click on Manage accounts on this device ( last option on the popup menu)
Step 4: At the top click on Data and Personalization
Step 5: Below “Download, delete, or make a plan for your data,” tap Delete a service or your account.
Step 6: Click on Delete this Service, and you may need to sign in for this.
Step 7: Next to Gmail, there is a trash bin icon, click on that to delete.
Step 8: Lastly, follow the steps on the screen.
